This modern Indian restaurant has made it’s home in the elegant, former Holborn Town Hall.
The menu caters lunch through to dinner daily, including afternoon tea. It’s decor includes many worthy artworks that are a homage to Roop Partap Choudhary’s travels across India with his mother, Mrs Binny Choudhary and father, Colonel Manbeer, given the honorific name ‘Colonel Saab’ – shared by the restaurant.
Dining at Colonel Saab is truly a feast for the eyes, with its treasure trove of eclectic Indian art and artefacts collected by Manbeer’s family on their travels as well as original family photos and love letters from Colonel Saab to his wife.
Downstairs, a grand, pure silver door, from a Gujarat temple, greets you and upstairs features a carved temple door from South India. The opulent dining room is bathed in light by a canopy of ornate chandeliers from Firozabad.
With old-style Jazz music, museum worthy artworks and a modern twist on the flavours, textures and aromas of India, Colonel Saab provides a contemporary perspective with an old soul.
